Barack Marx? The incredible leftward lean.

Barack Marx? The incredible leftward lean.

Posted on 01. Apr, 2010 by scott in Social commentary, economic daydreaming, political munglings

I had high hopes that Barack Obama would live up to his potential and all the hype of the campaign.  I have even tried to be realistic about his performance in the all-important first year of his term.

With patience and hope, I have watched his ‘rookie’ mistakes:  wavering and waiting on Afghanistan as more Americans perished at the hands of the ‘talibummers’, ignoring our dependence on foreign oil (what about natural gas dude?), passively accepting the ‘gotchas’ by the Chinese, Russian and even Brazilian leaders, staying in the background as congress pussy-footed around until health care reform became a 2,000 page mess, waiting (still) as unemployment soared to completely unmanageable highs (can’t wait for the #’s that come out tomorrow — I look for a gain of 100,000 or so but don’t give much credit to Obama), and . . . well you get the idea.

But sadly I now come down hard on the side of those who believe that obama is the ‘anti-capitalist’, the American Socialist of the 21st century, one mighty big government, income transferring danger to everyone who believe in free markets and freedom of choice.

President Obama right now is a socialist, tried, true and red as can be.

Here is what pushed me over the precipice:  the health care bill . .  and the ’stealth’ student loan provisions that were hidden inside that 2,000 page horror and passed without a whisper from the right.

I am far from alone.  Steve Forbes (April 12 issue of FORBES), “Health insurers will eventually be private in name only, as the details of their policies will be dictated by governmental decrees.  About the only thing companies will have any autonomy over–perhaps–will be their corporate logo.”  And, “President Obama wants higher education in this country to be free of charge, which is why his admin is pushing for a government takeover of student lending.”

This absolutely could lead to complete government control of higher education (think of North Korea here to get the full impact of such an awful thought).

Others are even more condemnatory and I will not repeat the rantings of such as O’Rielly or Beck.  Those guys make Obama seem like a total Boy Scout (with all the merit badges of course).

Oh, how I fear for our country when the left manages (and micro-manages) with no debate with the right.  But, the right is motionless as republicans cower behind an agenda-less fury.  Oh, the dread of democrats in control as President Obama ignores the right.

At his peril, we can only hope.

This is what is happening.  Obama pushed health care reform through with NO republican support.  The victory seems to have made him into the ‘Teflon’ President.  Forget that he has opened more areas to off-shore drilling — with the same sweep of his left-wing pen he also denied drilling in other areas with great potential.

Consider that No, None, Nada, Zip, Zero, government programs have ever come in at or below the original estimates.  Name me one!  You can’t.  Oh, dread the thought.

If Obama gets his way now, those who have worked hard, paid their debts and mortgages, saved, invested and benefited from American opportunities are now going to have to finance the mistakes of the lazy, the indolent, the illegals, and the entitled.  Those who pay are most of you reading this because the others never have to worry about the facts–they get everything they need from the government or MTV!

Have a huge mortgage on you McMansion?  Don’t worry Obama will pay off enough of it to make you whole–with our money.

Got no health insurance?  No problemo Obama will take our money and pay your premiums or your health care costs.

Can’t afford a car or a toaster?  Heck, Obama has a few hundred to $8,000 just to get you in the driver’s seat.  With our money.

Own a big bank that is busted?  Shoot, Obama has $trillions to back your risky bets right or wrong.  Again our money.

Crap — I can’t stand to go on.

Bottom line today?

Obama is a socialist, through and through.

Doesn’t look like he is going to live up to the hype (unless you are a rich hollywood star or a tort lawyer).

There are some of us out there ready to do something about it.  Not those you might think.

Conservative values are not those of the whacky right that think Obama is the ‘Anti-Christ’ or not even born in America.  Conservative values are the exact same values that directed President Lincoln to same the Nation, that made Apple a house-hold name, that developed amazing drugs to help the sick, that put a man on the MOON for crying out loud.  Real people, real work, real hope, real patriotism, real values.

Obama is a good man, I am convinced of that (would love to take him on one-on-one for a few of my political and economic agendas), but he really does have this whole government and economics/social  thing wrong.

We (the good guys above — you know who pay taxes and stuff) have got to start a real movement to get our country back.  No silly ‘tea-party’  or ‘coffee-party’ , we need a genuine ‘Founders Party’ to get us back to where the Constitution, common sense, and a high school education take us.

DO NOT VOTE FOR ANY INCUMBENT!  NEVER!  EVER!  NOT OF ANY STRIPE!

America by and for Americans.  Sounds good (maybe that should be the name of our new party)

‘America for Americans’ — and God Bless Our Great Nation!

Here, here! Out with all incumbents unless they have clearly proven that they are committed to the citizens and not to their own self-preservation and pocket-book.

There was tons of people that really bought into the idea of obama becoming president… Let’s face it, he really put on a good show. I think the real reason he was elected was all the things he said he was going to help change… WHO WOULDN’T say no to that. He seemed like the only guy would actually do something about the problems. Now that he is there he is really getting things done… the wrong way.. shooot. look who we let get in the seat? Someone who has different ideas than the founding fathers of our nation?? what ever happened to life, liberty, and the persuit of happines??? the PERSUIT… if you dont work hard and actively search for life, liberty and happiness why would you expect it to be given to you.. I know not everyone is as fortunate as others, thats life but if you work as hard as you can (which most americans dont) you cant expect other people to pay for your ‘dream’ they are trying to get theirs…. I agree we need to go back to the principles on which our country was based on….

Obama was suppose to be one of the best, but now it seems that he will never be.
I agree with Austin. He has some good things in mind he just does them the wrong way.
You need to go back to the inspired principles on which your country was based on.
Even Vladimir Putin in one of his speaches said to Obama “Don’t try to do it in socialists way, trust us, we tried it, it DOESN’T work”.
In the same time something’s gotta change, he just need to figure out right…

P.S. BTW, these comment and anti spam boxes are really jacked up :( or is that an example what happens to everything when socialism gets on the way? :) ))

I am surprised that anyone was fooled by Obama's deceit while campaigning. We knew his background. We knew who he considered to be his friends. Socialists, Marxists and terrorists were among them. He was very outspoken against the capitalist fabric of our nation. I was never fooled. He has never try to govern from the middle. I have never seen a president whine so much in my life. When is everyone going to stop giving him a free pass and call him a failure as he is.

Strong words. I am not encouraged by Obama’s recent actions, however, I do think that he still has about two years left to define his legacy. Hope he turns around.

I don't particularly agree on a lot of the same things as Obama does, but I feel it is our duty to support him the best way we can. Indeed a lot can happen in two years! Let's pray he really puts his focus on the people and steps down from his celebrity pedestal!

It is our responsibility to hold the presidents feet to the fire. He should start taking responsibility for things instead of hiding under the desk in the oval office. I am getting sick of hearing him say that he inherit the mess. He knew the country was in bad shape when he wanted the job. This president needs to man up and take the situation by the horns. However he seems as he lacks any sense of true leadership.

I agree with the fact that we need to support the President, but not his stupidity. Obama needs to know that the people is no agree with him. If he don't know that he will not be able to do the changes that he need to do. I come from a country where the people stay quiet when the government is doing something that is wrong or that just profits some of the people manly the upper class of the country. Today, Mexico is worst that ever, and why? because people shout their mouth. So let the government and Obama know what we think.

I really do not consider my self a democrat, but sure it is uncomfortable being bombarded heavily with comments of anger from the right-wing, mostly republicans whining because their Maverick didn't make it to be the "Cheerleader in chief", and if he would've been president now, what could he possibly be doing better?

Yes, there is repercussions to whatever actions the Federal government may take that are reflected in the budget and the way people will be taxed to cover the costs of any program, and it is hard to please every one at a time, and a lot of people might not be glad that the health care bill passed as it was, but at the same time it is sad to see people getting angry and being stupidly blinded by hatred, shredding to pieces any word, any move and any decision made by Obama. With this, it is not m intention to defend or even support all what he has done so far as president of this nation, but as a good friend once told me "The truth always lies somewhere in between". And to me is sad seeing and hearing people half-informed,not willing to grasp the whole picture and seeing that there is also a bright side. I sincerely hope that the decisions made by those in charge today may be in the best interest of the whole country and not only to a privileged elite. I really hope that the hearts of those in office might not be filled with greed, selfishness, indulgence, and any other motive that would lead them to make any decision that might take privileges, rights and liberties away from those who earnestly work to maintain them.

Again, I do not consider my self a democrat , nor a socialist, and heck!! for dang sure I'm not a republican. But one thing that might make me look as a lefty is that I'm not afraid of the words "redistribution of wealth" I believe that the best asset that creates strong economies and allows for country to stand strong is it's people, their work ethics and their will power to rise above. The least a government should do is to provide for its people with opportunities to do so.

May Obama be wise enough to come around and turn out to be the president we all hope for him to be. Even If Rodney keeps thinking that he's so far the worst president ever. He might not want to remember Nixon or his short therm memory might have already gotten rid of those 8 years of George W. Bush, ;) … Just Kidding Rodney, I like you! …and remember, Glen Beck's show is always from 4 to 7 pm, in 105.7 FM. Oh, I guess you don't need the reminder…

I'm sorry, I got caught by the emotions las time i entered in my comment and I would like to make a correction.

Knowing that Socialism and Communism are not the same thing. I DO conciser my self a Socialist. It is sad seeing how people like Sara Palin and her followers working hard misleading people to make them believe that Socialism is what causes all those evil traumas that the people are afraid of. Communism is the type of regime that the American people should be afraid of. Socialism, in the other hand, has allowed for public libraries to be currently operating, for kids to be able to go to school, for everyone who pleases to travel around the U.S. cruising away in state of the art Interstate highway system. It is also see how values that should have been handed down from generation to generation from the time when the foundation of this great nation was laid down, upon principles of freedom and team work. But Freedom will be hardly reach out to everyone if corporations keep in control of the United States. So, don't blame it on Obama and his short time in office.
